I am rather devastated to hear of the death of Pierre Boulez.
He has, for me, been the guiding inspiration and light of our age.
He is without all doubt the greatest French composer since Josquin de Prez, and it will take as many centuries for France to come up with another mind as brilliant. He is the French Bach and Beethoven and Wagner all rolled into one.
I have little more to say. I am overwhelmed by sadness with the irreplaceable loss.
It is truly the end of an age.
